An impressive England side were narrowly beaten by Italy last night in the World Cup's group D fixture. The game ended 2-1 with Wayne Rooney getting an assist. Danny Welbeck started the game alongside Rooney and Chris Smalling and Phil Jones were unused subs.

Shinji Kagawa also made his first appearance at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil when Japan met Ivory Coast. Despite taking the lead, the Japanese lost the game 2-1.
